Newsletter #13. I Caught Myself in an Old Trap

✨ A note from Guido
I caught myself in an old trap this week.
There's someone in my life whose influence I had allowed to grow — slowly, almost invisibly. It wasn't dramatic. No arguments, no big moments. Just a gradual shift. I started adjusting myself around this person. Adapting. Filtering what I said, how I responded, what I showed.
And without noticing, my irritation started building. That low-grade frustration that sits in your chest. The kind you try to ignore because you can't quite explain it.
For a few days, I just felt... off. Heavier than usual. Less like myself.
Then I became aware of what was happening.
That's the thing about awareness — it creates choice. The moment I saw clearly that I had been allowing this influence, I could make a different decision. I chose to stop allowing it. Not through confrontation. Not through drama. Just an internal shift: I'm not giving this space anymore.
And it was gone. Just like that.
This is the power of conscious creation. You're not fighting your circumstances. You're not forcing change. You're simply becoming aware of what you've been permitting — and then choosing differently.
The pattern I fell into is exactly what I write about in this week's article. When we can't say no to others, we say no to ourselves. We let the outside world dictate our inner state. We abandon ourselves to keep the peace.
The sneaky part? It often doesn't feel like a big betrayal. It feels like being reasonable. Being flexible. Being kind.
But your emotions know the truth. That irritation, that heaviness, that sense of being "off" — these are signals. They're telling you that you've allowed something that doesn't align with who you really are.
The good news: awareness changes everything. You don't need techniques or tricks. You need to see what's actually happening. And then the choice becomes obvious.
This week's article goes deeper into why saying no feels so hard — and why the solution isn't what most people think.
Have a beautiful week.
