✨ A note from Guido

Stop Setting SMART Goals

Yes, you read that right.

I know this sounds crazy. We've all been trained to set SMART goals—those specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-bound targets that are supposed to help us succeed.

But here's what I've learned after decades of personal growth work, and especially in these last five years: SMART goals keep you focused on the wrong thing.

They keep you focused on the future instead of the present moment.

When you're constantly thinking about what you need to achieve, you miss what's happening right now. You miss the excitement, the opportunities, the clarity that's available today.

But there's something even more important.

SMART goals put all your trust in your actions. You believe that if you just work hard enough, follow the right steps, tick the right boxes, you'll get there.

I used to think that too. And honestly? I've always been confident in my abilities. I knew I could do things.

But at 57, I discovered something that changed everything:

The real question isn't "Can I do this?" The question is "Am I the person who lives this life?"

That's a completely different question.

You can work yourself to exhaustion trying to achieve your dream villa, your dream business, your dream life. But if deep down you don't believe you're the kind of person who has those things—if there's disbelief about your true identity—your own mind will sabotage every step you take.

This is where conscious creators operate differently.

We don't abandon goals or dreams. I'm living my beautiful life in Bali, after all! But we don't focus primarily on achieving goals. We focus on something else entirely:

Cultivating trust in our authentic identity.

Instead of asking "What actions will get me there?" we ask "Who am I really, and do I trust that I'm the person who receives this?"

Most of your energy doesn't go into forcing outcomes. It goes into recognizing where you hold disbelief about yourself, and reconnecting with your true identity.

When you trust who you really are, the dreams don't need to be chased. They naturally unfold.

Want to understand how this actually works? I've written a full article explaining the mechanism behind this shift, and the two steps you can take to start cultivating trust in your authentic identity.

Have a great week!

Newsletter #19. Which Self Is Creating Your Reality?
✨ A note from Guido Last week, I wrote about my broken arm being a blessing in disguise. What I didn't mention then: recognizing those blessings requires the same skill this week's blog is about—discernment. When something "bad" happens, your acquired self immediately knows what it means and rushes to fix it. But your authentic self? It stays open. It doesn't collapse the future into one pred...
Newsletter #18. The Power of Change  Lies in the Experience
✨ A note from Guido You may have noticed my silence these past weeks. I broke my left forearm—an unexpected pause that turned into something far more profound than I could have anticipated. Here's what I've come to understand: every manifestation, every circumstance, is feedback. My broken arm wasn't an interruption to my work—it was the work itself, showing up in physical form. In the forced...
Newsletter #17. The Christmas You Create: Beyond Expectations
✨ A note from Guido Christmas never quite turns out the way we imagined it would. We carry these images in our minds—the perfect gathering, the meaningful conversations, the peace that's supposed to descend like snow on Christmas Eve. And then reality shows up: family dynamics that haven't changed, conversations that stay surface-level, that familiar sense of something missing. It's easy t...
